Charlie left Okinawa last Saturday September 26Th to get on the USS Denver and the plan was to head to Palawan, the Philippines in order to do training exercises. Palawan is known as one of the top 13 beaches in the world... top ten according to some.
Since that area has been bombarded with storms and flooding and are in danger of additional typhoons and tsunamis in the near future, they have been redirected. Charlie could be at one of two possible places in the next couple of days... the Philippine island of Luzon supporting typhoon relief, or in Indonesia providing earthquake relief. It seems more likely that they will be in Luzon since that is where the majority of their battalion will be but it is very possible that he will be in Indonesia. To stay updated on the disaster relief efforts, you may use the following website: www.philippinenews.com Don't worry at all... the family readiness officer I have been speaking to says that they are staying out of the way of any danger and they will let me know how its going in a couple of days.
Just to note, any mail you send him will be sent to Okinawa so he will get it when he gets back there at the end of October. From what I understand, that will also be the next time he will be able to talk to anyone on Skype. Please let me know if I can give anyone any additional information. Love you all, Case
